Overview

Garbage disposal repairs and replacements are part of Lula’s Flat Rate Program, designed to create a fast, predictable experience for both property managers and Pros.

Instead of quoting labor hourly or submitting material reimbursements, eligible garbage disposal jobs are completed for a known flat labor payment, with materials often provided by Lula.

How It Works

Garbage disposal jobs generally follow one of two paths: Pre-Diagnosed or Post-Diagnosis. You can read more about flat rate programs here.

1. Pre-Diagnosed Garbage Disposal Jobs

In many cases, our team can diagnose the issue and confirm the resolution before dispatching a Pro.

Common Pre-Diagnosed Scenarios

  • Disposal is seized, leaking, or electrically failed

  • Disposal is confirmed to need replacement

  • Unit type and size are already known

What Happens

  • Lula establishes the flat rate labor amount upfront

  • Customer approval is secured before scheduling

  • Replacement disposal and required materials are purchased by Lula

  • Pickup details are included directly in the work order

Your Role

  1. Claim the job

  2. Pick up the disposal and materials as instructed

  3. Remove the existing unit and install the replacement

  4. Test functionality and clean the area

  5. Close out the job as normal

Labor Pay (Pre-Diagnosed)

  • Service Fee: $50 (paid no matter what, included in the $90)

  • Flat Rate Labor: $90

  • Up to $50 allowed for additional parts and labor related to the replacement.

  • **Payment is issued regardless of install time, assuming scope remains standard

You will always see the flat labor amount in the work order before starting in this pre-diagnosed flow. Here is

2. Post-Diagnosis Garbage Disposal Jobs

Some disposal issues cannot be confirmed without an on-site evaluation.

Common Post-Diagnosis Scenarios

  • Disposal hums but doesn’t spin

  • Unknown electrical or reset issues

  • Unsure whether repair or replacement is required

  • Other repairs are needed that aren't related to the disposal

What Happens

  • Standard diagnosis fees apply

  • Once on site, Lula works with you to:

    • Confirm whether the unit is repairable or requires replacement

    • Align the job to the flat rate replacement program, if applicable

    • Coordinate material purchase if replacement is needed

If the job qualifies for a flat rate replacement, pricing is updated and approved before work continues.

Your Role

  1. Diagnose the issue

  2. Repair or quote replacement as necessary (use flat labor rates when possible)

  3. Pick up the disposal and materials as instructed

  4. Remove the existing unit and install the replacement

  5. Test functionality and clean the area

  6. Close out the job as normal

Labor Pay (Post-Diagnosis)

  • Service Fee: $50 (paid no matter what, included in the $90)

  • Flat Rate Replacement Labor (if approved): $90

  • Add-ons: Up to $50 allowed for additional parts and labor related to the replacement.

  • **Payment is issued regardless of install time, assuming scope remains standard

Materials & Procurement

In most garbage disposal flat rate jobs:

  • Lula purchases the disposal unit and required install materials

  • Pickup locations are chosen to be:

    • Close to the property

    • Easy to access

    • From reliable suppliers

All pickup instructions are clearly listed in the work order.

In rare cases where materials must be sourced on-site, Lula will coordinate with you before purchase.

What’s Included in the Flat Rate Scope

  • Removal of existing garbage disposal

  • Installation of new disposal using existing connections

  • Electrical and plumbing reconnection (standard setup)

  • Functional testing

Not Included (May Require Review)

  • Cabinet modifications

  • Electrical rewiring or outlet relocation

  • Plumbing reconfiguration

  • Drain line repairs unrelated to the disposal

If the scope is larger, you have up to $50 in labor and materials to get the work completed. Anything beyond that will require a call 913-444-9293 as it is no longer a standard replacement.
